Jackson Racing Launch Road Racing Academy

We at Jackson Racing are looking to the future of road racing, helping the next generation of rider to develop safely into race winners of tomorrow.

We will provide the same environment and work ethic as the factory team as they learn the craft with rider debriefs, analysing data and set up changes.

Jackson Racing will provide a stepping-stone to the factory teams working with selected riders on a two year plan with the option to be released to a factory team after one year if appropriate.

This concept will generate great media interest which will also benefit the riders once the step into the factory team is made when it comes to dealing with media relations and this will also present a unique marketing opportunity for select commercial partners

NW200 Superbike podium for Johnston and Jackson Racing

Lee Johnston and the Jackson Racing Honda team enjoyed a successful two days of racing at the International North West 200 on Thursday and Saturday with the 27-year old claiming an excellent third place in the first Superbike race around the 8.9-mile circuit.

Having qualified in tenth place for the two Superbike races, the opening encounter on Saturday was delayed due to rain and an oil spill, eventually being cut to four laps but a superb start saw Lee immediately jump up to fifth and by the end of the opening lap, he was up to third behind Alastair Seeley and Michael Rutter.

Fellow Ulsterman Seeley went on to take the win but Lee put in a superb ride in challenging conditions to keep the pressure on Rutter and he duly brought the Honda Fireblade home in a superb third place.

Meanwhile, the two Supersport races saw Lee qualify in second place and on the front row of the grid with Thursday’s six-lap race taking place in glorious conditions. In the mix from the start on the Honda CBR600RR, Lee was part of a seven-rider battle for the lead but he eventually had to settle for fifth at the chequered flag, just 1.8s off the race win.

The weather was considerably different on Saturday as overnight rain left the circuit damp and a delay to proceedings. On this occasion, no less than 12 riders were disputing the lead but on the third lap, Adam McLean squeezed Lee onto the kerb at the Juniper Chicane and with nowhere to go, Lee unfortunately crashed out.

John McGuinness had been due to ride a second Jackson Racing Honda in the two Supersport races, where he’d qualified 11th, but the 23-times TT winner sustained a heavy crash during the second Superbike qualifying session on Thursday when riding the Honda Racing Fireblade. The Morecambe ace suffered a number of injuries including a compound fracture of his right lower leg, four broken vertebrae and three broken ribs and everyone from the team wishes him a speedy recovery.

Lee Johnston: “It’s great to be back on the podium, especially in the Superbike class and although I was a bit cagey at the start, I rode my own race in the conditions. I didn’t want the leading group to pull away but the BMWs have full traction control and the like whereas I only had my right hand and had to search for the wet bits of the track to keep everything moving in the right direction. I struggled a bit on the 600 with top end speed but I’m happy with my form, I’m fully fit and raring to get going now at the TT.”

Alan Jackson, Team Owner: “It’s been a bit of a mixed bag to be fair with some excellent results from Lee offset by the injury to John but overall, we’re in a good position heading to the TT. Lee had a good, solid ride in the first Supesport race, less than two seconds off the race win and being the first Honda home, and we were confident of a podium position on Saturday. Unfortunately, he got pushed onto the kerb by another rider which caused him to crash out and it was a great shame and not how his race should have ended.”

“Conditions in the Superbike race were extremely tricky but Lee did a great job to finish on the podium and, as everyone knows, International road race podiums don’t come easy so it’s a result the whole team was delighted with. We’ve still a bit of work to do with the bikes to make them even stronger at the TT whilst we’re all hoping John makes a fast recovery. His injuries are a huge blow to everyone so he’s in our thoughts and we all want to see him back and fighting fit as soon as possible.”

The team now turn their attention towards the Isle of Man TT Races with practice scheduled to get underway on Saturday 27th May.Mr. Taylor has served as the Chair of the company since 2007 and is a lead director of several international groups and organizations.

Kneen gives Jackson Racing top ten finish in Supersport TT

The Jackson Racing team secured their first results at the 2017 Isle of Man TT Races on Monday when Dan Kneen and Josh Brookes took eighth and 11th place finishes on their CBR600 Honda’s in the four-lap Supersport 600cc race.

However, Kneen was left to rue what might have been after being docked sixty seconds due to speeding in pit lane after the single pit stop which dropped him from sixth to outside the top ten. He fought back valiantly to claim eighth, aided by his best ever 600cc lap of 125.882mph but without the penalty he would have finished fifth.

Having only joined the team at the 11th hour, and with a trying practice week due to inclement weather, neither rider had managed many laps on their Supersport mounts prior to the race, which was delayed by over two hours due to overnight rain.

It eventually got underway just after 1pm and an opening lap of 122.926mph put Manx rider Kneen into eighth place and as track conditions improved, he was able to pick up the pace considerably second time around. Indeed, with a lap of 124.337mph, he was up into sixth and less than two seconds behind Sunday’s Superbike race winner Ian Hutchinson.

The team did a superb job in the pits but as he left pit lane, Dan accidentally pressed the wrong button which failed to activate his pit lane speed limiter and he broke the speed limit, unfortunately picking up the aforementioned penalty.

Despite dropping out of the top ten, he regrouped well and really flew on the final lap, his near 126mph lap moving him up to eighth after 150 miles of hard fought racing.

For Australian Brookes, he was making his return to the TT for the first time since 2014, which was also the last time he rode a Supersport machine. Taking over the Honda earmarked for 23-times TT winner John McGuinness, the 33-year old got quicker as practice week wore on although the damp conditions on the opening lap hindered his progress slightly.

Fifteenth at the end of the first lap, a lap of 121.838mph on lap two moved him up to 13th and with another good pit stop by the team, he was up to 12th with one lap to go. And with a final lap of 123.099mph, he was able to overhaul Ivan Lintin and take a good 11th at the chequered flag.

Third team member, Craig Neve unfortunately tipped off at Creg ny Baa during Sunday’s Superbike race, fortunately without injury, but he’ll be back on the Honda Fireblade in Friday’s Senior.

Alan Jackson, Team Owner: “Dan rode the wheels off the 600 today and it’s such a shame he picked up the penalty as fifth place would have been a great result. There are numerous buttons on the bike and unfortunately he pressed the wrong one, which resulted in him breaking the speed limit and picking up the penalty. After that, he rode brilliantly and lapping at close to 126mph shows how well he was riding and how well the bike was performing.”

“We were pleased with Josh’s result as well as it’s been a long time since he rode a 600 whilst the tricky conditions were far from ideal and probably held him back a bit more compared to Dan who’s obviously been coming here a lot longer. The 600 is very different to the Norton he rode in Sunday’s Superbike race so 11th at the end of the four laps was a pleasing outcome.”

The second Supersport race is due to take place at 10.45am on Wednesday with the Blue Riband Senior scheduled for 12.45pm on Friday.

Strong Senior TT finish for Neve and Jackson Racing

The Jackson Racing Honda team overcame the disappointment of the cancellation of the second Supersport 600cc race at the 2017 Isle of Man TT Races to record a strong finish in Friday’s Senior TT race with Craig Neve taking a good 25th place.

Bad weather on Thursday meant it wasn’t possible to run the second Supersport race, thus denying the team and riders Dan Kneen and Josh Brookes the opportunity of improving upon their eighth and 11th place finishes of race one. However, the six-lap Senior race did go ahead although it was delayed slightly to 3.15pm.

Craig Neve made a good start on the Honda CBR1000RR but the race was red flagged on the second lap after Ian Hutchinson crashed at the 27th Milestone suffering a broken femur. The subsequent delay resulted in the race being cut to four laps, eventually getting underway at 5.15pm.

Having just his second race on the ex-Nicky Hayden Superbike, a strong opening lap of 124.635mph put Immingham’s Neve in 26th place and he improved further still on the second lap around the 37.73-mile circuit. Indeed, a lap of 125.553mph was a new personal best around the Mountain Course and moved him up a place to 25th.

He slipped back slightly to 27th on lap three but with a final lap of 124.695mph, he moved back up to 25th at the end of the 150.92-mile race to win another bronze replica.

Craig Neve: “We made good steps with the bike each and every lap and the whole team, especially Mark Hanna and Derek Huxley, did everything they could for me. I’m quite tall compared to Lee (Johnston) who was previously on the bike so it made it quite difficult to set up but the team worked really hard and gave me a bike that I was comfortable on. It was an absolute pleasure to ride and I was able to lap quicker than ever before so I’m happy with the result.”

Alan Jackson, Team Owner: “We were obviously disappointed that the second Supersport race was cancelled as both Dan and Josh had good rides in the first race and were confident of improving further in race two. It didn’t happen so that just left the Senior and given the deal all came together at the last minute, Craig did a great job. It’s been a tough TT for everyone but all three riders have scored some good results with good lap speeds and the bikes have been faultless throughout.”

“The team worked really hard in what was, at times, difficult conditions and they gave the riders everything they needed. We’re satisfied with the results whilst everyone at Jackson Racing sends their condolences to the family and friends of Alan Bonner, Jochem van den Hoek and Davey Lambert who sadly lost their lives this week.”
